Hi y'all! My name is Chloe, and I'm currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Entomology at Cornell University in Dr. Katja Poveda's lab.
My graduate research is centered around understanding how local farm management and the surrounding landscape impact insects in agricultural landscapes. This includes using a combination of on-farm pest monitoring, management, landscape, and climate data to understand how various factors interact to influence pest abundance on farms. Additionally, I am developing models using long-term pest monitoring datasets to identify the most significant factors influencing pest abundance, including climate, geography, land use, and soil conditions.
My research aims to provide ecological evidence to inform agricultural management practices that reduce the reliance on pesticides and to build healthier, safer, and more sustainable food systems. I’m passionate about science communication and co-produced knowledge that works with growers, policymakers, and the general public to drive useful, inclusive, and accessible science.
Outside of work, I love hiking, backpacking, climbing, and making all sorts of art! My hobbies are inspired by my love for the outdoors and pushing myself to learn new skills and gain new experiences.
