Hi y'all! My name is Chloe and I am currently a PhD Candidate in Entomology at Cornell University in Dr. Katja Poveda's lab.
My graduate research is centered around how local and landscape factors impact insects in agricultural landscapes and the ecosystem services they provide. I study the interaction between specific local management practices and landscape complexity and whether or not certain practices are more effective for promoting ecosystem services in certain landscapes. For example, do floral strips support natural enemies and pollinators better in more simple or more complex landscapes?
In addition, I am building models using long-term pest monitoring datasets to understand the most influential factors on pest abundance - including climate, geography, land use, and soil conditions.
My research aims to provide ecological evidence to inform agricultural management practices that reduce the reliance on pesticides and to build healthier, safer, and more sustainable food systems. I’m passionate about science communication and co-produced knowledge that works with growers, policymakers, and the general public to drive useful, inclusive, and accessible science.
Outside of work, I love hiking, backpacking, climbing, and making all sorts of art!
